HYDE PARK, NY -- To commemorate the 80th anniversary of Franklin Roosevelt's death (April 12), the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum presents a conversation and book signing, "Life and Legacy: Remembering FDR, 80 Years On" with historian David B. Woolner, at 6:00 p.m. ET on Thursday, April 10, 2025. Professor Woolner is the author of THE LAST 100 DAYS: FDR AT WAR AND AT PEACE and will sign copies of his book following the program. The event will be held in the Henry A. Wallace Center at the FDR Presidential Library and Home and streamed live to the official FDR Library YouTube and Facebook accounts. This is a free public event, but registration is required to attend in-person. In-person registration: CLICK HERE.

In this conversation, "Life and Legacy: Remembering FDR, 80 Years On," Professor Woolner and Library Director William A. Harris will discuss the enduring legacy of our 32nd President. In THE LAST 100 DAYS: FDR AT WAR AND AT PEACE, Woolner explores the drama and consequence of the last hundred days of FDR's life and Presidency. The conversation will also explore FDR’s death within the context of World War II and the tremendous outpouring of grief by American citizens and people from around the world. As a contributor to MOURNING THE PRESIDENTS: LOSS AND LEGACY IN AMERICAN CULTURE, Woolner will also share his view that “the most important lesson that FDR has imparted to us: his fundamental faith in democracy, and his confidence in the ability of the American people,” as the President himself said at the dedication of his presidential library, “’so to learn from the past that they can gain in judgement for the future.’”

David B. Woolner is a senior fellow and resident historian at the Roosevelt Institute and a professor of history at Marist College. He is the author of THE LAST 100 DAYS: FDR AT WAR AND AT PEACE and is editor/co-editor of five books, including PROGRESSIVISM IN AMERICA: PAST PRESENT AND FUTURE, FDR’S WORLD: WAR, PEACE AND LEGACIES, and FDR AND THE ENVIRONMENT. He lives in Rhinebeck, New York.

Please contact Cliff Laube at (845) 486-7745 with questions about the event.
