HYDE PARK, NY -- To commemorate Memorial Day Weekend, on Saturday, May 24 and Sunday, May 25, 2025, the Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum and The Duffle Bag (of Patterson, New York) will present a weekend of historic military displays and a World War II encampment on the Library’s Great Lawn. Reenactors in battle dress will be on hand to share their love of history with the visiting public. Collections of military uniforms, weapons, insignia from 1917 to the present day, and military vehicles -- including a Sherman Tank -- will be on display. Free, public event.

ON DISPLAY: Sherman Tank

The tank to be displayed is a model M4A4 Sherman tank -- a World War II combat veteran -- assembled by Chrysler at the Detroit Tank Arsenal in December 1942. It was part of President Roosevelt's "lend-lease" program, crewed by and under the command of Great Britain's armed forces during the war. Display of the tank is courtesy of the Fourth Armored Division Historical Preservation Group.

Regular admission will be charged to tour the FDR Library and Museum, and National Park Service Historic Sites. Contact Cliff Laube, at the Roosevelt Library, at (845) 486-7745 with questions.
