HYDE PARK, NY -- The Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library and Museum presents the first program in its year-long film series “Hollywood Goes to War, 1941-1945” with a screening of Alfred Hitchcock’s SABOTEUR (1942) on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. The event will be held in the Henry A. Wallace Center at the FDR Presidential Library and Home. This is a free public event, but registration is required. CLICK HERE to register.

The full slate of films included in the “Hollywood Goes to War, 1941-1945” film series will be announced on April 30, during the program. Films will include MRS. MINIVER (1942), EDGE OF DARKNESS (1943), and HOLLYWOOD CANTEEN (1944).

Synopsis:

In SABOTEUR, factory worker Barry Kane (Robert Cummings) finds himself branded an industrial saboteur after a fire breaks out in the workplace. The extinguisher he handed to his colleague and best friend burst into flames, and Kane is now on the run, determined to find the real culprit and prove his innocence. The only person who believes his story is Patricia Martin (Priscilla Lane), who aids him in his flight from the authorities. A suspenseful chase film, and a contribution to America's wartime propaganda, SABOTEUR can be seen as a precursor to Alfred Hitchcock's classic NORTH BY NORTHWEST.

Please contact Cliff Laube at (845) 486-7745 with questions about the event.
