Author and music journalist John Barry examines the life of Hudson Valley legend and Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Levon Helm. In Helm’s final act he started the Midnight Ramble, a regional music venue that continues to this day. Part of our 2025 Hudson Valley History Reading Festival.

Memorial Day Weekend Event

May 24-25, 2025

World War II Military Displays

Time: 10am - 4pm ET

Location: FDR Library Great Lawn

In honor of Memorial Day Weekend, the Great Lawn in front of the FDR Presidential Library and Museum will take on the appearance of a World War II encampment with military displays.

Period military vehicles of all sizes – including a Sherman Tank – and soldiers in battle dress will be on hand to share their love of World War II history.

Disgraced American military officer Rick Leland (Humphrey Bogart) boards a Japanese ship, and meets the mysterious professor Dr. Lorenz (Sydney Greenstreet) and the beautiful Alberta Marlow (Mary Astor). Soon Lorenz recruits Leland for a dangerous mission.
