The FDR Presidential Library presents an author talk of The New York Game: Baseball and The Rise of a New City – A hugely entertaining history of baseball and New York City, bursting with larger-than-life figures and fascinating stories from the game’s beginnings to the end of World War II.
Kevin Baker (born 1958) is an American novelist, historian, and journalist. He was born in Englewood, New Jersey, and grew up in New Jersey and Rockport, Massachusetts.
FDR loved movies and movie stars. He enjoyed their celebrity, too, and as a shrewd politician, he knew their support and their fame could prove beneficial to his Administration. Acting Director William A. Harris highlights evidence of these relationships through a selection of key documents from the Library’s collection.

Have you heard "This is War!" This poster promoted the government sponsored series that aired across the radio networks and was directed by Norman Corwin.
In August, 1941, President Franklin Roosevelt and Prime Minister Winston Churchill met in secret off the coast of Newfoundland to agree to the Atlantic Charter. It their first wartime conference.
