FDR Library Education Specialist Jeffrey Urbin takes an up close look at some of the interesting, innovative, and even icky gifts presented to President Roosevelt during his time in office.
Thomas George Palmer constructed this lamp out of scrap metal and sent it to FDR in August 1937, a symbol of the light the President was bringing to government affairs.

The FDR Presidential Library is delighted to host a display of authentic Hudson Valley Ice Yachts - including KRISS (pictured right), built for FDR's uncle John Aspinwall Roosevelt -- The display is presented by the Hudson River Ice Yacht Preservation Trust and Hudson River Ice Yacht Club. Free to the public.

We are proud to announce this exhibit has received a 2023 Award for Excellence from the Greater Hudson Heritage Network.
A special exhibition developed in collaboration with a distinguished committee of scholars that centers on the historical voices of many Black community leaders, wartime service members, and ordinary citizens who engaged the Roosevelt administration directly and who pushed for progress. Within this context, the exhibit examines the political evolution of both Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt regarding racial justice.
All year we have highlighted items from the many collections Franklin Roosevelt assembled over his life. But you can still explore a selection of objects including stamps, ship models, rare books, prints, coins, drawings, and historic relics, and other items.
Sourced from eleven digitally-restored home movies recently donated by Missy LeHand’s family, this footage offers a rare, intimate view of the private social lives of both the President and Eleanor Roosevelt. In this film, we see Eleanor Roosevelt enjoying a day of ice skating with Marion Dickerman.
Yesterday I was presented with the “1949 Dime Hat,” which was designed and created by Dorothy Gordon to commemorate the new March of Dimes Campaign for the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis. The brim of the hat is turned up on the left side and under the basket weave of the felt, dimes are inserted....
